Good morning DBM officials and employees.
Today we are gathered for the Christmas lighting ceremony, an annual tradition of the DBM to formally welcome the start of the Christmas season.
We know this season as the ‘season of giving’. We reach into our pockets a little more so we might be able to give to others. I believe this is because at the heart of the Christmas message is the challenge to be generous – like God had been when he gave us his only son.
It is in this light that I would like to thank you for the many ways you have been generous as employees of DBM. Generosity is found when we mentor new employees, when we support reform initiatives despite challenges, when we offer our ideas and input to our supervisors; Generosity is when we go above and beyond what is expected of us.
In a few days, the 2018 budget will be approved. This means it’s almost time for us to prepare a new budget. I hope you continue to serve the DBM with generosity, and, in that way, keep the spirit of the season with you.
Finally, in this season of caring for our fellowmen, let us share our blessings with the least of our brothers and sisters, collectively or individually, no matter how little or large, so that they, too, will feel the true spirit of Christmas.
Merry Christmas everyone!
