Dr. Mariam M. Estrabo of the University of Rizal System served as the resource speaker. She holds a Doctorate in Education, among other accolades, and has more than 30 years of experience in teaching, administration, and research at the University.

Dr. Estrabo emphasized that generation gaps are mainly caused by increased life expectancy, rapid changes in society, and the mobility of society. She mentioned that since people are born at different times and are raised differently, ideological differences are imminent.

The 26 DBM RO IV-A employees, who participated in the training, also learned that the diversity of preferences and behaviors is one of the reasons why people experience generational gaps and communication difficulties. Hence, being aware

of other people’s differences and being able to adapt to these differences are a powerful tool for fostering a healthy work environment. Dr. Estrabo advised that young generation and their predecessors to work together to achieve better relations and reduce generation gap.

Simultaneous with the conduct of the GAD training activity, the DBM RO IV-A also held the opening of its yearly sports and cultural activity as part of the Office’s Physical Fitness and Wellness Program.

Anchored on the theme, “Let’s Win Together,” the program aims to promote long-term health and enhance camaraderie among the employees. The sports activities consist of several games including Badminton and different kinds of Palarong Pinoy such as Chinese Garter, Dodge Ball, Tug of War, and Tumbang Preso.

To conclude the event, Regional Director Nympha R. Manalastas expressed her gratitude to the staff for actively participating in the activities and for making the event memorable and meaningful. The DBM RO IV-A commits to promoting a gender sensitive and healthy workplace with the leadership of Director Manalastas and Acting Assistant Director Maria Rowena P. Gonzales.
